Description

Escape into the La Plata Mountains, where every twist and turn reveals a new adventure waiting to be experienced. Board a custom open-air Jeep in Durango and hit the trail within minutes. The road climbs to Kennebec Pass, reaching nearly 10,000 ft with jaw-dropping panoramas of alpine ridgelines and forested slopes.

Along the way, stroll beside a private waterfall and explore remnants of historic mining camps. Your guide will weave local lore, geology, and wildlife tales into the ride—keeping every stop as enriching as it is scenic. Wildflowers bloom in summer; aspens glow gold in fall. Keep your camera ready for marmots, elk, and maybe a soaring raptor.

This tour balances rugged off-road sections with comfortable cruising. You’ll have time to stretch at overlooks, snap photos, and soak in fresh mountain air. Return to Durango energized and inspired, with the best of remote Colorado delivered in just four hours. Reserve today—seats fill fast during the wildflower and fall colors season!

Frequently Asked Questions

What if the weather is bad for our Jeep tour?
We go out in all weather, rain or shine. If the weather looks rainy, bring a rain jacket. We will have fun no matter what the weather does. We also rent out extra gear in case you forgot your rain jacket at home and will have blankets along as well.
Will I be required to drive on this tour?
Nope! You'll be enjoying the views from the back of the open-air (covered) vehicle. Our expert guides do the rest!
What type of Jeep or off-road tour is right for me?
The first question is do you want to drive your own vehicle or be driven to scenic viewpoints by a guide? There are amazing options for Jeep rentals to DIY, have a guided tour where you'll still drive or hop aboard a fully guided tour if you'd prefer not to be white-knuckled and just dig the views. Ask us for more tips and options!
Do I need to be in good physical shape for this Jeep tour?
While most of this trip is simply riding in a vehicle enjoying views, you'll want to be able to comfortably climb a short step ladder in and out of the vehicle and hold on for a ride that can be bumpy at times. Optional short walks at high elevation to visit scenic viewpoints.
What should I wear and bring on a Jeep tour?
You won’t want to forget your camera, there will be some amazing views! Hat, sunscreen, sunglasses- although the temperature drops, the sun’s rays become far more intense as you gain elevation so you want to make sure you protect yourself while in our open-air vehicle. Make sure to bring Water- it is very easy to get dehydrated at high elevation. Wear good shoes in case we have time to walk around, bring a rain shell and multiple layers of clothing to stay warm or shed layers as needed.
