Description

Strap into our rugged, open-air 4×4 and head straight into the heart of the San Juan Mountains along the scenic Alpine Loop. This classic Half-Day Silverton Jeep Tour takes you along the legendary Alpine Loop—a historic mining route winding over Engineer or Cinnamon Pass, reaching altitudes above 12,000 ft.

Your knowledgeable local guide, versed in geology, mining lore, and wildlife behavior, will navigate narrow cliffside roads and stop frequently for stunning views and photo ops. Snap pics beside cascading alpine rivers, explore abandoned mining cabins, and stroll through ghost towns frozen in time. You'll be guided to their favorite viewpoints, offering awe-inspiring panoramas of the mountainous landscape. As you traverse these paths, you'll step back in time to the gold rush era, visiting several ghost towns that once thrived during this historic period. These abandoned settlements, with their weathered buildings and remnants of old mines, provide a captivating glimpse into the lives of miners and their families who sought fortune in these remote mountains.

Be ready to spot marmots darting among wildflower-filled meadows, hear stories of Colorado’s gold rush, and possibly glimpse elk or deer grazing at high elevation.

Over approximately 3 hours, you’ll ascend from Silverton, reach prime elevation, and return—allowing time for exploring the town of Silverton. This adventure is perfect for families, couples, and solo travelers—no prior off-road experience required, just your sense of adventure.
